On the 91st Psalm

More on the 91st Psalm:

God is a place of shelter in the midst of all kinds of threats.

God tells us not to be afraid

God will lead his people through the midst of disaster unscathed.

God will order his angels to protect us.

God will rescue, protect, answer and honor us.

On Prayer

The Apostle Paul said, "I know how to abound and I know how to be abased." He said, "I could go do it in either way. In all things I'm more than a conqueror through Him that loves me. I can be abased. I can be abound. I know how to prosper and I know how to suffer." But the thing is, in America very few of us know how to be abased.

And God is saying to us we're facing terrible danger in our land. Think of it: Iran, possible nuclear power. North Korea, possible nuclear power. Libya, possible nuclear power. Iraq, weapons of mass-destruction, chemical, biological, and nuclear if they can get it. And who knows how many other terrorist groups might fall into possession of these things. And each one of them is capable of doing devastation to an American city. They won't wipe our country out, but they can hurt us badly.

Now the 91st Psalm is a comfort to all of u,s and here's what it says: "Though a thousand fall at your side and ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you." Now, here you are. And on the one hand there are a thousand right there, and they're dying. And on the other hand, ten thousand that are perishing.

But you are going to walk right straight through it. Why? Because of the covering of God over you. "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shelter of the Almighty." And that's where you need to be. There's a shelter over you, even though people are being hurt on every side. And that's what God says. He said in the next verse, He said you will see it with your eyes. You will see how the wicked are punished, but it won't come nigh you. You will actually be here. You will see what's happening. You'll see what's happening to them. It should bring fear to your heart.

You'll be able to help them. You'll be able to help these others. You'll be able to reach out in compassion as best you're able. And yet God says, because you are dwelling in the secret place of the Most High, you're going to abide under the shadow of the Almighty. He is going to be our rock. He is going to be our fortress. He is going to be our deliverer. You need to just let these things penetrate your mind and your heart. Let them speak to you. And God Almighty is going to take us all through; not necessarily out of, but through. I want to show it to you again. Trouble on the left. Trouble on the right. You're going through - you understand?

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
—Philippians 4:13
