Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) Receives 5 Daytime Emmy Award Nominations For Superbook & Made in Israel with Gordon Robertson Series

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (May 5, 2014) – The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) received 5 nominations by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards. CBN received three nominations for its special series, Made in Israel with Gordon Robertson, and two nominations for its animated series, Superbook.

The Daytime Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television production and are presented to individuals and programs broadcast from 2:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. during the 2013 calendar year. This year’s gala will be held the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA on Sunday, June 22, 2014.

CBN received the following two nominations for Superbook:

  • Outstanding Achievement in Main Title and Graphic Design
  • Outstanding Original Song – Main Title and Promo

Superbook is an animated series that brings the Bible to life using state-of-the-art animation designed to reach a younger generation. Originally launched in Japan in 1981, CBN’s first Superbook series reached an estimated four million viewers in that country, prompting the Bible to become the best-selling book in Japan due to Superbook’s popularity. To date, the original series has been broadcast in over 106 countries, translated into 43 languages, and viewed by more than half-a-billon people. In 2010, CBN re-launched the series with new episodes and using an international award-winning team of writers, producers, designers, musicians and animators with such credits as Disney's The Lion King, Mulan, and Beauty and the Beast. Superbook is directed by Bryant Paul Richardson, produced by Sean Roche and John J. CBN received three nominations for Made in Israel with Gordon Robertson:

  • Outstanding Achievement in Single Camera Editing - William Ellison
  • Outstanding Achievement in Single Camera Photography – Lior Sperandeo
  • Outstanding Special Class Writing – Erin Zimmerman

Made in Israel with Gordon Robertson is a five-part series that was originally aired on The 700 Club broadcast in September 2013, during the week of Rosh Hashanah. The series is hosted by Gordon Robertson and examines Israel’s remarkable innovation and ingenuity to produce breakthroughs in products and processes that affect the way we live our every day lives. Subjects featured in the series include Agriculture, Water, Medicine, Clean & Green, and Technology. The series can currently be viewed online at www.cbn.com/special/made-in-israel/
