PatRobertson.com -- A PROCLAMATION BY THE PRESIDENT

WHEREAS, in consideration of the most recent developments in the Republic of Liberia, wherein the United
Nations has imposed Sanction on Liberia; dissident forces continue to wage war on our defenseless citizens of Lofa and Gbapolu Counties; seeking to destroy our democracy and destabilize our government, God continues to shower His mercies upon us as a Nation, and

WHEREAS, in light of the socio-economic problems our Country Liberia is faced with as the results of the
aforementioned situations, a delegation of Church Leaders under the auspices of the Christian Church of Liberia traveled to the United States of America to petition the United Nations Security Council and the United States to find a way in which the plight of the suffering Liberian people could be alleviated, and

WHEREAS, God the Holy Spirit, spoke through men of God as Dr. Pat Robertson and Bishop John Gimenez, President of the Rock Church International confirming that the only way to save Liberia is to have a mass gathering of Christians from all over the world to pray for Liberia according to II Chronicles 7:14: "If My People, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Hence, the vision TO SAVE OUR NATION was borne, and

WHEREAS, in order to fulfill this VISION, a LIBERIA FOR JESUS PRAYER CRUSADE is scheduled for February 22-24, 2002, to be held simultaneously in Monrovia, and in each County throughout the Republic of Liberia, and

WHEREAS, Liberia, a nation founded on Christian principles, has always turned to the Almighty God for deliverance during national crisis, and through His Grace and Mercy, has heard the cries of the people of this nation through these perilous times.

THEREFORE, I, DR. CHARLES GHANKAY TAYLOR, President of the Republic Of Liberia, by virtue of the authority in me vested, do hereby give whole hearted support to the LIBERIA FOR JESUS PRAYER CRUSADE and call on ALL Christians, Denominations, and their respective Leaders throughout the length and breath of this Republic to forge a massive demonstration of Christian unity and love to turn Liberia to JESUS.

Further, I do declare and proclaim FebruAry 22-24, 2002 as LIBERIA FOR JESUS PRAYER CRUSADE DAYS, and to be observed as Working Holidays. I further declare that during these three days, the people of this Nation, especially Christians, will go down in sackcloth and ashes and undertake a SPECIAL FAST FOR LIBERIA as we employ His grace and mercy.
